Jeffreys remembered: caring, sharp in business
One of Franklin County’s most beloved businessmen and civic leaders who is known for his generosity, compassion and business skill died Saturday.
Hubert “Tommie” Jeffreys was 81.
Jeffreys founded D&J Automotive with Winston Davis in 1963,going on to make sales and friendships for decades.

Woman dies in car crash
The Highway Patrol reported the county’s second vehicle-related death this year when a Louisburg woman was killed last week.
According to a report by Trooper D.O. Guy, Elizabeth Robinson was driving a 2003 Toyota west on Ronald Tharrington Road when she approached Hickory Rock Road at about 5 p.m. on Jan. 5.

Cousins charged: great-grandfather robbed and killed
Franklin County sheriff’s deputies charged two teen cousins Monday night in the shootig death of their great-grandfather.
A live-in companion arrived home at about 3:15 p.m. on Monday to find Samuel Burt lying face down on the living room floor of his 1634 Schloss Road home.
When deputies arrived, they discovered that Burt had been shot.

3 alleged rapes at rest home are under investigation
Louisburg police are investigating three allegations of rape that were reported to have occurred at a Louisburg rest home.
According to an Aug. 6 incident report, a 33-year-old Louisburg Gardens resident reported that she was raped at the home by a staff member.

Taylor Mischke didn’t mind being the only one at the rally dressed up as a giant cookie.
She was doing it for the team — a feisty group of about 100 cheering, enthusiastic ready-to-sell-Samoas-and-Tagalongs girls who kicked off the 2007 Girl Scout cookie campaign at Louisburg United Methodist Church on Friday night.

Warriors will host CC meet
LOUISBURG - The Louisburg High Warriors will host one of the biggest wrestling events of the season this weekend at the LHS Gymnasium.
The Carolina Conference’s dual team tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday and will feature Manteo, North Carolina School of Science and Math, Rosewood, Princeton, North Johnston and Spring Creek -- along with host Louisburg.

LHS stars saluted as All-TRAC
LOUISBURG - Randy Lassiter has capped off his senior season by being named the Tar-Roanoke Athletic Conference Football Player of the Year.
The Louisburg High star, who starts at quarterback and safety, rushed for 865 yards and 12 touchdowns while leading LHS to the second round of the Class 1-A State Playoffs.

Her smile.
For Choate, her personal quest for fulfillment began with a visit to Titans Gym in 2002. At the time, Choate was 182 pounds and a size 16.
