Nifong sentence: special prosecutor Charles Davis says right message sent
Former Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong will spend a day in jail, punishment for his zealous prosecutorial tactics that could have sent three innocent men to the same place for much longer.
Louisburg attorney Charles Davis, who served as special prosecutor in the two-day hearing that ended on Friday said Nifong’s sentence sends the right message.

New Bunn officer works high school hallways
BUNN — The Board of Commissioners agreed during a special called meeting Friday to hire a school resource officer.
By unanimous vote, the board tabbed Doug Elliot as its school resource officer, and he’ll be responsible for securing Bunn High School.

Reekie’s side is on a roll at Louisburg College
LOUISBURG -- Already revered as one of the school’s all-time best men’s players, Adam Reekie hopes to make his mark at Louisburg College again -- this time as the women’s soccer coach.
Reekie, who starred at LC from 2001-03, has returned to the campus as the Lady Hurricanes’ skipper. Results have been positive so far, as the Lady Hurricanes are off to a 3-0 start.
