Breaking News: Fire destroys home; no injuries reported
A family in eastern Franklin County escaped without injury late Thursday night but fire severely damaged their home.
The Kevin Stalling home, at 4203 NC 56 East, Louisburg,  was hit by fire that appeared to start in a garage and quickly spread into the attic around 11 p.m. Thursday, according to fire officials. Justice Fire Chief Kelly Harris said that by the time firemen arrived, the blaze had already broken through the roof.

Breaking News: Interesting town elections shape up
Several new faces have joined the local political scene, especially in the town of Youngsville which could see a lively election period.
The filing period ended at noon on Friday.
Youngsville residents can expect to see the most change as longtime Mayor Sam Hardwick did not seek re-election.

DOROTHY M. LYNCH
CASTALIA — Dorothy Maxine Lynch, 71, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013.  Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Hollister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at William Toney’s Funeral Home in Spring Hope.

YOUNGSVILLE - Patsy Bartholomew Hicks, 74, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Rolesville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
