OLLIE M. MERRITT
Sept. 23, 1920 – Aug. 2, 2013
LOUISBURG – Ollie Morrison Merritt, 92, died peacefully Friday morning at his home.  He was born in Franklin County, son of the late Vivian Mae Faulkner and Charlie Spencer Merritt.  Mr. Merritt was an Army Veteran of WW II and member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

LOUISBURG —Portia Smith Ross, 65, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at her home. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 4, at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Carpenter and the Rev. Don Ward officiating.  Burial followed in the Cedar Rock First Baptist Church cemetery.

SCARLETT COTTRELL
LOUISBURG - Scarlett May Cottrell, 53, of Louisburg, died Friday, August 2, 2013, at her home.  Born in Nash County on May 11, 1960 to the late Mickey Rogers and Anne Gupton May.  Scarlett worked at the Franklin County Health Department for many years, she owned and operated Cola Café in Louisburg from 2001 until 2004 and she was the manager of Ribeye’s Steak House in Louisburg until her health failed in 2012.  Scarlett was dearly loved by her family, she has never met a stranger and she touched everyone she came in contact with.
