RALEIGH -- Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, a jury determined that two troopers owed former cadet and current sheriff's deputy Jennifer Martin $432,500 in damages for their role in actions that led to a debilitating hip injury. The jury, though, could not come to an agreement on whether Trooper Susan Moreau was liable for any punitive damages. They did decide that Trooper Gregory Gentieu was not liable for any punitive damages.
LOUISBURG - Alexander Bell Jr., 89, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Cedar Rock Baptist Church in Castalia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
