DOROTHY PIPER "DOT" YOUNG

FRANKLINTON--Dorothy Piper "Dot" Young, 74, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Duke- Raleigh Hospital. She was born in Franklin County and was the daughter of the late Johnny and Annie Louise Piper. Dot was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and worked in Human Resources at Burlington Industries for over 25 years. Later she worked as an office manager in the healthcare field. Dot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was always putting the needs of her family and friends ahead of her own. She will be remembered for her undying love, care and sacrifice for others.

Passed away peacefully on October 19, 2017 in Alexandria, VA. Beloved wife of the late Capt. William Henry Griffiths, Jr. for 60 years; loving mother of Elizabeth Jackson (Curt), William H. Griffiths (Suzanne), and Richard Griffiths (Barbara); grandmother of Christopher Jackson and Amy Griffiths; great-grandmother of 3. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goodwin House Foundation, 4800 Fillmore Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22311.

LOUISBURG - Funeral services for John Ollie Bowden, 79, who died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Richardson Funeral Home Chapel in Louisburg, with Minister Faye Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

FAYETTEVILLE--Oscar Lelon Davis Jr., 93, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 following several years of declining health. A graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton. A reception to celebrate his life will be held at the Franklinton American Legion Hut following the funeral.
