OBITUARIES

NELLIE H. MARSHALL

LOUISBURG-Nellie Harper Marshall, 89, of Louisburg departed this earthly life on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Born on July 4, 1928 to Elijah Arthur and Lucy Gupton Harper. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Marshall and all of her siblings. She was independent and a hard worker, working alongside of her husband on the farm. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and played first base for the women's softball team. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and her special cat, Missy.

ROYAL WINSTON JONES

FRANKLINTON--Royal Winston Jones, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Durham Regional Hospital. He was born in Franklin County the son of the late Pearl Wilder Jones and Howell Gray Jones. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Ruth Harris, Hazel Kearney and Rachel Fatherly.

THOMAS B. AVERETT

LOUISBURG-Thomas Beam Averett, 84, of Louisburg died Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He was born on July 20, 1933 to the late Walter Thomas and Suelene Vaughan Averett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Haven Averett; daughter, Fonda Gail Averett; and his sister, Dorothy Bagbey.
