ZEBULON - Lula B. Massey Perry, 79, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009. Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 27, at Union Hope Baptist Church, with entombment following in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Durham County and raised in Nash County, daughter to the late Eli Winston and Etta Pearl Ferrell Denton. She worked as a secretary in Zebulon schools for the Wake County Public School System.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O. Massey, and brothers, Frank and James Denton.

Surviving: husband, Robert Perry; sons, Ray Massey Jr. (Lyn) of Zebulon and Randall Massey (Wanda) of Raleigh; daughter, LuAnn Hinton (C.R.) of Archer Lodge; stepsons, Dan Perry of Cary and Roney Perry (Kathryn) of Zebulon; stepdaughters, Melanie Jeffreys (Jimmy) of Bunn, Brenda Langley of Zebulon and Barbara Gay (Myron) of Rock Ridge; brothers, Junior “J.R.” Denton and Danny Denton, both of Middlesex; sisters, Dorothy Cone of Middlesex, Mae Winstead of Elm City, Mettie Creech of Zebulon, JoAnn Mitchell of Middlesex, and Carolyn Perry of Zebulon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Hope Baptist Church.

Arrangements handled by Strickland Funeral Home, Wendell.
