ZEBULON - E. J. Harris, 79, died Thursday morning, July 15, 2010 at his residence. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, July 17) in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronald Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah Christian Baptist church cemetery.

He was born in Pitt County, son of the late Eunice Holloman Harris and James Earl Harris.

Surviving: wife, Melba Denton Harris; daughters, Carolyn Owens, Linda Sinclair (Bill) of Zebulon; sons, Stanley Harris (Geraldine) of Wake Forest, Ronnie Harris of Vanceboro, Donnie Harris (Sandy) of Youngsville, Duane Harris (LeaAnne) of Zebulon; stepson, Tony King; sisters, Barbara Coggins of Pinetops, Irene Nichols of Conetoe, Eunice Bell of Greenville, Pearline Hamm of Tarboro, Wanda Suggs of Red Oak and Kathy Bottoms of Dorches; brothers, Kenneth Harris of Tarboro, Henry Harris of Mebane, Bruce Harris of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends may visit with the family from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest.
