LAWRENCE W. (DICK) VAUGHN
FRANKLINTON— Lawrence Winston (Dick) Vaughn, 77, died peacefully at his home on Friday, November 26, 2010. Dick was born in Franklinton, NC to the late Earnest and Willie Mae Vaughn on July 23, 1933.

In addition to being a long-time member of the American Legion, in his youth, Dick served in the Air Force for a period of 13 years. Following his time in the armed forces, he began a career in Law Enforcement and was eventually appointed as Chief of Police in Clarkton, NC. Ultimately, he worked many years as a state employee before official retirement. In his more recent years, he and Patricia owned and operated the Bargain Store in downtown Franklinton until it had to close due to an unfortunate fire. Dick was a great man and will be sorely missed by all those who love him.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; son, Calvin and his wife Robin of Youngsville, NC; 3 grandchildren; and best friends, Macon and Mae Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to Amedisys Hospice, 3320 US 1 Highway, Franklinton, NC 27525. Please include “Lawrence Vaughn Memorial” on the memo line of your check.

A private cremation ceremony was held at the Hall-Wynne Crematory. Per Lawrence’s request, there will be no public services or visitation at this time.
