DORIS H. HUNT
December 26, 1935 – March 14, 2011
LOUISBURG – Doris Horton Hunt, 75, of Louisburg, died Monday morning after a brief illness.  Doris was the daughter of the late Marshall and Katie Bell Horton.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwendolyn Hunt, and her brother, Philip Horton.  She was a life-long member of Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church.

Doris was always full of life and took great pleasure in interacting with those around her whether they were friends, family, former students, or new acquaintances that she was just getting to know.  Doris enjoyed the pleasure of serving as a teaching assistant at Bunn Elementary for 22 years and touched the lives of many students there.  Her family and friends were especially dear to Doris, and they often shared meals, long talks, and lively card games.

Doris is survived by her husband of 56 years, James S. Hunt; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Gene Darnell of Louisburg, N.C., Beverly and Lynn Davis of Holly Springs, NC, and Jamie and John Jones of Louisburg, N.C.; grandchildren, Andy Darnell and wife Lauryn, Josh Darnell and wife Alicia, Amanda Darnell and friend Paula Shover, Christopher Davis, Brandon Stroud; great-grandchildren, Collin Caskey, Kaitlyn Darnell, Kierstyn Darnell, and Blake Darnell; and brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Ann Horton of Hillsborough.

The family received friends from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM on Tuesday, March 15, at Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Louisburg, and other times at the home of Jamie and John Jones, 101 Sam Horton Road, Louisburg.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 16, at Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church with Dr. James Horton and Rev. Jared Pemper officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
