WAKE FOREST —David Herod Ray, 92, died Wednesday Jan. 25, 2012 at Franklin Oaks Nursing Center in Louisburg. A graveside service was held Friday, Jan. 27, at Free Will Baptist Church cemetery.
He was born in Wake County, son of the late Bessie Newton Ray and Ollie Ray. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Williams Ray, and sons, Harvey and Wayne Ray.
Surviving: his children, Katherine Ray Davis (Durwood) of Franklinton, David Ray of Canton, Ga., Judy Ray Goodwin (Lester) of Cary, Jimmy Ray (Alice) of Wake Forest; brothers, Leonard Ray of Columbia, S.C. and Willie Ray of Wake Forest, sister; Ruth Ray of Wake Forest; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
