DONALD MURRAY
MINT HILL - Donald Murray, 74, of Mint Hill, passed away April 20, 2012 surrounded by his family.  Don was born on October 13, 1937 in Wake Forest, NC to Grover and Lena Jane Murray.  He began his career in 1956 at Western Electric and retired after 40 years from Lucent Technologies.  Don loved the outdoors, feeding his backyard friends and taking care of his yard.  He was known to his family as “Granddad.”

Don was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Johnson Murray.  He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joy Manning Murray; his daughters, Sharon (Kent) Smith and Lynn Murray; grandchildren, Karlee and Tanner Smith; sisters, Shirley Horton and Betty Sue Wrenn of Louisburg, NC; and his beloved Beagle, Betsy.

Family received friends from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services were held in the chapel at 1:00pm.   Interment followed at Sharon Memorial Park.
