LOIS CALHOUN BLEVINS
(MAY 20, 1921 – JUNE 4, 2012)
LOUISBURG — Lois Calhoun Blevins, age 91, died Monday, June 4, at Louisburg Nursing Center.  Mrs. Blevins, formerly of Bristol, Tennessee, had lived at Louisburg Manor for six years.

Mrs. Blevins, daughter of the late George and Osa Calhoun, was born in Teas, Virginia.  She was a 1939 graduate of Tennessee High School.  She was a lifetime member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church in Bristol, Virginia, where she was a member of the Henley Sunday School Class and the Sunshine Club.  Mrs. Blevins was a longtime member of the Virginia Asher Bible Council.

Mrs. Blevins was an employee of the United Intermountain Telephone Company for twenty-nine years.  As a retiree, she was an active member of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association.

Mrs. Blevins was predeceased by her husband, Donald C. Blevins; a brother, Duane Calhoun; and a sister, Mary Calhoun.  Surviving Mrs. Blevins are her son and daughter-in-law, George and Jane Blevins of Youngsville, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Jessica Blevins and Erin Blevins, both of Piney Flats, Tennessee; and a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and W. C. Patton, of Abingdon, Virginia.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 8, at Blevins Funeral Home in Bristol, Virginia.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Glenwood Cemetery, in Bristol, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Mrs. Blevins’ memory to Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church, 327 West Mary Street, Bristol, Virginia  24201.  Local arrangements are being handled by Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, Louisburg.  Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
