WILTON - GRANVILLE COUNTY—Harold Winston Gooch, 80, of Franklinton passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home. He was born in Granville County on November 1, 1932, the son of the late Edgar Newton Gooch and Lorine Henley Gooch. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1951, where he played baseball. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church where he served as deacon for many years.
Mr. Gooch was the owner and operator of Gooch’s Grocery for over 40 years and was always willing to help a neighbor or community member in need. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and was an avid baseball fan. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In his later years, his greatest passion was watching his grandchildren play ball. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Christian Church by Rev. Don Owen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gooch is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucille Mitchell Gooch of the home; a daughter, Gail Gooch Bullock and her husband Allen; a son, Eddie Harold Gooch and his wife Dawn; four grandchildren, Jared Bullock, Joshua Bullock, Justin Bullock and Rusty Gooch; two sisters, Dorothy Gooch Pruitt and her husband Leonard; Sue Gooch Bunn; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Gooch, and a brother, Robert Earl Gooch.

Visitation was held from 6:00 – 7:30 PM, Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at his home.
