VIRGINIA S. BUNN
CONOVER, NC - Virginia A. Suarez “Ginny” Bunn, age 80, of Conover, NC, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013, at her residence after a long, valiant fight with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.  Virginia was  born on  December 6, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Sylvia Fabricant Suarez.  Raised by Raymond and the late Emily McVicar Suarez.

Ginny was a 1952 graduate of Wesley College in Dover, DE, where she became a founding member of the Wesley College Foundation.  She was awarded the Faculty Award upon graduation.  She also had a love of sports and was the goalie for the field hockey team.  As an adult learner,  Ginny attended Lenoir-Rhyne College for her Christian Education Degree.  She also corresponded with Moody Bible College  to learn more about her loving God.  Before her declining health, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Conover, NC. Throughout her life,  she was a member of a church choir for over 52 years and had taught Sunday School for over 50 years.  She also led women’s circle groups and Vacation Bible School.  Ginny was the former Director of Christian Education at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Conover, NC.  Ginny also served as District Secretary for the United Church of Christ Women.  Ginny enjoyed playing softball on the woman’s United Church of Christ softball team for many years.  She volunteered for the United Church of Christ Retirement Home Gift & Thrift Store in Newton, NC.  and enjoyed working in the Lenoir-Rhyne Bookstore during book buy-back  days at the end of each semester.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed volunteering for numerous church and community events.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles “Bo” Lindberg Bunn, and her brother, Raymond Suarez, Jr.

Survivors include her daughters & son-in-law, Nancy & Richard Gibson of Greensboro, NC, and Diane B. Urtel of the home; grandchildren, Jessica Potts of Greensboro, NC, Charles Urtel and Melanie Urtel of the home, and Julia Gibson of Greensboro, NC; sister, Gail S. Perkins (Gary Perkins) of Roseburg, OR; brother, Kenneth Maynard (Marica Maynard) of Sacramento, CA; and sister-in-law Dorothy Olson of Schertz, TX.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Conover, NC.  The Rev. Mickey Moree and Rev. Tony Bunton will officiate.  The family will receive friends following the service in the family life center of the church.

The family would like to thank Hospice for their support and  Nurse Heather Morris for her exceptional dedication to their mother.
