LEONARD J. GROVES

FAYETTEVILLE – Leonard James Groves, 82, died Monday morning, May 12, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 11 – 12 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria M. Groves. He was a veteran of the Army and awarded the Purple Heart in the Korean War, and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired. He then went to work for Purolator and retired.

Surviving: daughter, Julie G. (Barry) Gupton of Louisburg; son, Clark (Marie) Groves of Charlotte; sisters, Ellen (Melvin) Lord of New York, Ina (David) Garris, Doris (Robert) Hopkins, all of Pennsylvania, Joyce and Francis Craker of West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Eastern NC, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612.
