WILLIS W. NASH
LOUISBURG - Willis Winfield Nash, 83, of Louisburg, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at his home. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. from Louisburg Baptist Church, with Dr. Reggie Rushing officiating. Burial followed in Lancaster Memorial Park.

A Georgia native, Mr. Nash came to North Carolina in 1949 as a dealer for International Paper Company. He operated a pulpwood yard and sawmill for many years in Bunn, NC, later operating a cattle farm and running a fleet of trucks hauling peanuts and related products to the West Coast.

He was instrumental in getting a sports program organized for the local school. He was a member of Louisburg Lions Club, was named Man of the Year in 1963 by Louisburg Rotary Club, served on the local school board, a trustee of Louisburg College, and served as president and on the board of directors of Green Hill Country Club for many years.

He was a working member of Louisburg Baptist Church and Adult Sunday school teacher for 25 years.

Mr. Nash is survived by is wife of 62 years, Catherine O. “Kay” Nash; son, Terry Nash and wife, Lori of Nashville; daughter, Penny Nash and husband, Tom Cox of Atlanta, GA; four granddaughters, Jessica, Amelia, Audrey and Madison Nash; two grandsons, Brad and Jeffrey Cox; brothers, Nelson Nash and wife, Mary of Birmingham, AL, and Fred Nash and wife, Anne of Smithfield; sisters-in-law, Beverly Nash of Ft. Myers, FL, Martha O. Fleming of Richmond, VA, Evelyn O. Westbrook and husband, Lloyd of Clayton, GA, Jean Oldham of Oxford, GA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, J. Y. Nash.

The family received friends Thursday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lancaster Funerals and Cremations, 804 N. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg, and at all other times at the home, 1624 NC Hwy 49 N., Louisburg.
