JOYCE AYSCUE

HENDERSON-Joyce Owen Ayscue, age 82, a resident of 199 Epsom-Rocky Ford Road, died Friday, March 10, 2017 in a local nursing home. Born on December 11, 1934 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman Owen and Bessie Ivey Owen, and was the widower of Donald Fulton Ayscue.

Mrs. Ayscue was a homemaker and was a member of Liberty Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Monday at 3 pm at Liberty Christian Church by the Rev. Caroline Allen. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Donald F. Ayscue, Jr. (Yvonne) of Henderson, Belinda A. Turnage (Allen) of Louisburg, and Sharon A. Bawcum (Robert) of Henderson; her grandchildren, Steven F. Ayscue (Kim), Christopher A. Turnage (Jennifer), Brad Turnage (Jamie), Brian K. Bawcum (Kristina), and Katie A. Tran (Tuyen); her great-grandchildren, Samantha Ayscue, Matthew Turnage, Steven Ayscue, Luke Turnage, Hunter Bawcum, Maia Tran, Chase Bawcum, and Kaelyn Bennett; her sister, Ruth O. Breedlove (Leonard) of Oxford; and her brother, Carl T. Owen (Nellie) of Summerville, GA.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angela Ayscue; two brothers, Henry L. Owen and James F. Owen; and her sister, Rebecca O. West.

The family received friends Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they were at her home at 199 Epsom-Rocky Ford Road.

Serving as active pall bearers were Steven Ayscue, Christopher Turnage, Brad Turnage, Brian Bawcum, Tuyen Tran, and Lennie Breedlove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Christian Church General Fund, c/o Mattie May, 1897 Epsom-Rocky Ford Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
