JAMES V. MARSHALL

LOUISBURG-James Vernon Marshall, age 89, a resident of 3291 561 Hwy., died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at WakeMed Hospital.

Born on September 15, 1927 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late James Ellis Marshall and Emma Wiggins Marshall. James was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a retired Principal at Gold Sand High School, and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Central Baptist Church by Dr. Randy Mann. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Lancaster Memorial Park in Franklin County.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Overton Marshall of the home; step-daughter, Gaye R. Cawley and husband, Frank of Louisburg; step-son, Michael W. Radford of Henderson; daughter-in-law, Nancy J. Radford of Henderson; two sisters, Alma M. Small of Franklinton and Frances Marshall of Louisburg; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Thomas E. Marshall; one step-son, Lonnie W. Radford, Jr.; two brothers, Horace W. Marshall and Richard B. Marshall; and two sisters, Vivian M. Moulton and Dorothy M. Cummings.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 10 until 11 am in the Fellowship Hall of Central Baptist Church. At other times they will be at the home of Gaye and Frank Cawley at 3288 NC 561 Hwy.

Serving as active pall bearers were Dwight Frazier, James Jackson, Tom Tunstall, James Small, William Bolton, and Roger Bibee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 2574 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27537, or a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
