WAKE FOREST - Carl Swain Harris, 87, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Grace Baptist Church, 1815 South Clearview St., Henderson, with the Rev. Calvin Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery.

He was born in Yancey County, the son of the late Flossie Thomas Harris and Lee Harris. He was preceded in death by two infants and his wife, Rachel.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Henderson and he was a retired supervisor for Nello Teer Corporation.

Surviving: daughters, Rebecca Francis (Roger) and a special son, David Francis of Franklinton, Linda H. Edwards (Jerry) of Wake Forest; sons, Edward A. Howard, Jr. of Durham, Wayne C. Howard (Ramona) of Graham, Wash., Dallas A. Howard (Teresa) of Athens, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many greatgreat-grandchildren.

Flowers are accepted or memorials can be made to a charity of one's choice.

Friends may visit with the family from 7-8:30 Thursday evening, May 18, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest.
