"BILL" REV. W.L. WINSTEAD
May 8, 1941 - May 30, 2017

LOUISBURG - Rev. William Linzy Winstead has departed this life to live with his Lord and Savior in heaven on May 30, 2017.

He was the son of the late Carroll Reid Winstead, Sr. and Maggie Hayes Winstead. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Annie Hayes Winstead, Dorothy Nicholai and Nancy Tant; brothers, Linwood Grey Winstead, Rev. John Allen Winstead and Rev. Carroll Reid Winstead, Jr..

Rev. Winstead graduated from Bunn High School. He received an Honorable discharge from the Air Force. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Maryland Baptist Bible College in Elkton, MD. He graduated from Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburgh, TX. He served as a missionary, along with his wife, in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Visitation will be Friday at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg, with Dr. Bill Wingard, Rev. Robert Greene and Rev. Frankie Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Rev. Winstead is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Evelyn Gupton Winstead; children, Ramon and Jackie Rodriguez; sister, Pattie Pennewell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lelon "Chick" Winstead; Jesse and Clara Winstead; 2 granddaughters; 1 great-grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Independent Baptist Church, 4061 Stagecoach Rd., Oxford, NC 27565.
