CORA BLAIR

GREENWOOD, SC - Cora Kemp Blair, 74, wife of Grant Blair, of Harbor Heights, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Born February 14, 1943 in Louisburg, NC to the late Toliver Thomas and Cora Bobbitt Kemp, she received her Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina State University where she was the first woman to become Editor of the student newspaper, she then received her Master's Degree from Clemson University. Cora taught basket weaving and chair caning at Piedmont Technical College Continuing Education Department for over 20 years, retiring only 8 years ago.

She was a member of the Lakelands Basketry Guild, and Holley Garden Club where she was a Master Gardener, she worked on the yearbook and was the current program chairperson.

Surviving other than her husband of 52 years of the home are her son, Branson T. Blair and his wife Maja; her grandchildren Jack T. and Ronin D. Blair, all of Atlanta, GA.; her brothers, Abe Kemp (Janie), David Kemp (Kim), all of Louisburg NC; her sisters, Peggy Land, Gail Floyd (Stanley), both of Louisburg, NC, and Irene Mitchell (Steve) of Bunn, NC. She was predeceased by her step- mother, Helen Harris Kemp, and her brother, Roy Kemp.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Saturday, October 7th, at 6:00 PM at her home, 318 Port Royal Dr. Ninety Six, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Cora's memory be made to Greenwood Promise, Attention Kris Burris, P.O. Box 366, Greenwood, SC 29648.
