SCOTT BURNETTE THARRINGTON
June 22, 1965 - November 30, 2017

LOUISBURG - Scott Burnette Tharrington passed away Thursday, November 30th, 2017 after a brief illness.

Scott was a lifelong N.C. State, Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox fan. He always said he was glad to have lived long enough to see the Red Sox end the Curse Of The Bambino in 2004. His love of the Cowboys and the Wolfpack was unrivaled and he would want ABC to be his lasting thought for you all. Scott also coached the Louisburg High School JV and Varsity football teams over several years and enjoyed not just the competition but also the lifelong friendships he established while doing so. Scott has helped Warrior Football Coaches since the 1980's and is the longest serving coach in Louisburg High School history, having assisted the past five LHS Football Coaches, three of which were his honorary Pall Bearers. Scott wanted everyone to have this image of him as a tough, didn't give a crap fella, but just below that fake surface was a caring, loving, good hearted man who cared more about his family and friends than anyone will ever know. His pride over his daughter, Alicia, was tremendous. Her accomplishments have given him the greatest joy of his life. He always said that when Alicia walked in the room that not only was she the most caring and loving person in the room but also the smartest, no matter who else was there.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra B. Tharrington; his maternal grandparents, Glinwood and Beanie Burnette; his paternal grandparents, Allen and Juanita Tharrington; and his uncles, Joe Patterson and Bobby Robbins.

He is survived by his daughter, Alicia Ley-Marie Tharrington of Bunn; his father, Wayne Tharrington and his friend, Fran Elliott of Bunn; his girlfriend, Dawn Herrin and her daughter, Savannah; his brother, Shane Tharrington, and his wife, Jennifer Holloway of Raleigh, and his other brother, Victor Newman Tharrington of Bunn; his two aunts, whom he had convinced were both his favorites, Brenda Robbins of Louisburg and Judy Young and Uncle Juan of Bunn; his two first cousins, Denise Gupton and her husband, Sammy, and Joey Patterson and his friend, Lori Calloway, as well as countless other relatives and friends, especially his nephew, Chase Tharrington, and his niece, Kathryn Holloway.

A memorial service celebrating Scott's life was held Monday, Dec. 4th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg with Dr. Reggie Rushing presiding. Visitation with his family immediately followed the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Miracle League of Franklin County in Scott's name. Scott always said that if through his death, others may be given hope then that was a great thing.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
