ROCKY MOUNT - Robert Carlton Fields, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007. The family received friends at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 9, from 12-1 p.m., with funeral services following visitation. The Rev. Stan Prewett and the Rev. Stanley Brown officiated. Committal services were conducted immediately following at Pineview Cemetery.
He was born in Wayne County to the late Wilbert O. and Mary Worrell Fields. He was a lifetime member of the Evening Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Fields; sisters, Gertrude Edgerton, Mary Helen Powell, and Elva Jones; brothers, Steven and Roland Fields.
Surviving: his wife, Mary Fields; sons, Robert C. Fields Jr. (Susan) of Raleigh and Billy G. Fields (Carolyn) of Smith Mt. Lakes, Va.; daughters, Christine Shearin (Phil) of Louisburg, Miriam Brown (Stanley) of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. |
