OAKALEE H. ZIMMERMAN
HURDLE MILLS - Oakalee Hollifield Zimmerman, 63, of 7557 Burlington Road., died Friday, November 9, 2007, at her home. Born in Yancey County, Mrs. Zimmerman was the daughter of the late Clarkston Armond and Anna Belle Branch Hollifield. Mrs. Zimmerman retired from Collins & Aikman and was a member of Clement Baptist Church.

Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her husband, Carlton Owen Zimmerman; her children, Ken Zimmerman and wife Tracey of Roxboro and Laurie Pearce and husband Danny of Franklinton; five grandchildren, Devin, Shelby and Chase Zimmerman and Avery and Madison Pearce; her siblings, Clarkston Hollifield, Jr. of Burnsville, Bette Barrier of Jonas Ridge, Clarence Hollifield of Reidsville, Sue Pickard of Roxboro, Linda Franklin and Wanda Franklin, both of Jonas Ridge. Mrs. Zimmerman was preceded in death by her brother, Shelby Hollifield, and two sisters, Ellie Zimmerman and Virginia Waycaster.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clement Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnny Smith and the Rev. Norman Talley. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Mike Blalock, Mike Stacey, Wayne Bowes, Butch Matthews, Kevin Overby, Tony Stone, Clyde Bailey and Danny McCullough. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Reynolds, Chelves Ashby, Cecil Overby and Terry Thompson.
