LINDA J. MAYES
SWANSBORO - Linda Johnson Mayes, 67, of Swansboro, NC, formerly of Beaufort, N.C., died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.

Linda Mayes graduated from Bloomsburg High School, Bloomsburg, PA in 1958, and received her bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg State College.

She was a loyal employee of Rose’s Department Store for over 29 years.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Rudy Johnson of Bloomsburg, PA. She is survived by four daughters, Penny Johnson and husband Maurice of Pinehurst, NC, Debra Thornton and husband Andrew of Newport, NC, Linda Opstad and husband Brenton of Washington State, and Audra Butts and husband Stephen of Morehead City, NC; two sons, Frank Harvell and wife Tonya of Kingsland, GA and Randall Harvell and wife Diann of Bunn, NC; a sister, Susan Shurock and husband James of Shamokin, PA; and also twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family received friends between 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Tuesday, April 22 at Munden Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City, NC, with the Rev. Michael Fields and the Rev. Dennis Evans officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at Glad Tidings Family Life Center at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Holiness Church in Morehead City. The burial will be held at Elan Memorial Park Cemetery, Bloomsburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, N.C. Chapter 3801 Wake Forest Rd., Suite 115, Durham, NC 27703-3637; or South Banks Community Church, PO Box 832, Morehead City, NC 28557; or Parkview Baptist Church, 4738 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557; or Glad Tidings Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4621 Country Club Road, Morehead City, NC 28557.
