YOUNGSVILLE - Leland Bass Jr., 75, died Friday, March 13, 2009 at Franklin Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were Monday, March 16, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest. Burial followed in the Denton family cemetery.

He was born in Edgecombe County, the son of the late Sally Joyner Bass and Leland Bass Sr. He was a truck driver for R. H. Bullington for 13 years and for Stock Building Supply for 15 years.

Surviving: wife, Frances Denton Bass; son, Michael Todd Bass (Nicole) of Bunn; stepdaughter, Charlene Jones-Wright of Zebulon; sisters, Pauline Surles of Pinetops, Geraldine Jones of Rocky Mount and Ann Vernon of Sharpsburg; brothers, Robert Bass of Rocky Mount and James Bass of Youngsville; and one granddaughter; www.brightfunerals.com.
