ROCKY MOUNT - Nannie Bell Perry Nelms, 92, died Friday, March 20, 2009. Funeral services were Monday, March 23, in the chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cremations, with interment following at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

She was born in Franklin County to the late James Edward and Martha Tant Perry. She was a lifetime charter member of North Rocky Mount Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Nelms; parents, Edward and Martha Perry; daughters, Mary Frances Pittman and Judith Mae Huhn; son, Joseph Earl Nelms; sister, Dora Floyd; and one grandson.

Surviving: daughters, Martha Christine Travis (Jewell) of Dayton, Tenn., Edith Rae Baker (William Melvin) of Arlington, Tex.; sons, James D. “J.D.” Nelms of Louisburg, Johnny Nelms (Linda) of Jefferson City, Tenn., Charles Nelms (Tonya) of Rocky Mount, Danny “Pete” Nelms (Kathy) of Rocky Mount; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
