AIKEN, S.C. - Asa Jones Cooke, 84, died Friday, April 10, 2009. A memorial service will be announced.

He was born in Franklinton, a son of the late Joseph Robert and Katherine Jones Cooke. He was an electrician and formerly managed Freeman’s Discount Tackle in Morehead City. He attended Cedar Creek Church and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII.

Surviving: a daughter, Marie (Bill) Jones of Aiken, S.C.; a son, William R. (Frankie) Cooke of Glen Burnie, Md.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Gertrude Wendell Cooke, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Puzzle Palooza, or the Trinity Lutheran Home, 213 Laurens Street, Aiken, S.C. 29801.
