SPRING HOPE - Erlene Mitchell Edwards, 89, died Saturday, May 30, 2009. A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, June 2, at Oak Dale Cemetery, Spring Hope.

She was born in Bunn to the late Robert Isham Mitchell and Maggie Edwards Mitchell. She graduated from East Carolina Teachers College and taught elementary school at both Momeyer Elementary School and Spring Hope Elementary for more than 30 years. She was a member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church in Spring Hope.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. “Buddy” Edwards Jr., six brothers and one sister.

Surviving: son, Dan Edwards (Judy) of Wendell; brother, Luther Glenn Mitchell of Bunn; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
