JAMES H. WEAVER SR.


FRANKLINTON —The Rev. James Henry “Jimmy” Weaver Sr., 81, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at his home. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 18, at Harriett Baptist Church in Henderson, with the Rev. Ben Bates and the Rev. Jake Roberson officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton.

Born in Granville County, he was the son of the late William Henry Weaver and Laura McGhee Weaver. He attended Fruitland Bible Institute and was a retired minister, after preaching for 43 years. He also worked at Harriett and Henderson for 18 years.

Surviving: wife, Mary Montgomery Weaver of the home; sons, William “Butch” Weaver of Kittrell and James Weaver of Taylorsville; daughters, Dottie Huff of Youngsville and Rebecca Mash of Taylorsville; brother, Albert Weaver of Franklinton; sisters, Shelby Patterson, Carolyn Patterson, Bonnie Lewis and Anise Edwards, all of Henderson;  11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Wright, Catherine Weaver and Shirley Dean Ennis.
