LOUISBURG - Helen Cooley Smith, 87, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Franklin Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Lancaster Funerals and Cremations in Louisburg, with the Rev. Mark Lynch officiating. Burial followed in the Murray family cemetery.

Surviving: daughters, Elaine Widner of Charleston, S.C., and Christine Perry (David) of Windsor; sons, Edward Smith Jr. (Dale) of Oxford and William Smith (Dona) of Louisburg; sister, Sherry C. Lenz (George) of Boonsboro, Md.; brother, Charles Cooley of Louisburg; and 11 grandchildren.
