ZEBULON - Donald Wayne Williams, 69, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009. Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Wakefield Central Baptist Church, with burial following at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

A native of Nash County, he was the son of the late Earl and Versie Massey Williams. He served in the U.S. Air Force, worked for many years as a mortician, and retired from Sparrow Construction after more than 27 years of service.

Surviving: wife, Jean Joyner Williams; sons, Donald “Donny” W. Williams Jr. of Zebulon and Tommy E. Williams (Jessica) of Decatur, Ga.; daughter, Jeanene W. Smith of Garner; sister, Carolyn Hopkins (Wayne) of Middlesex; brother, Jerry Williams of Zebulon; siblings, Lucy Johnson (Wilbur) of Zebulon, Emma Brantley (Danny) of Bunn, Ray Haskell (Mary) of Roper; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
