RALEIGH - Tommy Gerald Higgins, 71, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at his home. A graveside service was held Monday, Aug. 10, at Elevation Methodist Church cemetery, Benson.

He was a military veteran and was a carpenter by trade.

Surviving: sons, Tommy Higgins Jr. of Youngsville, Andy W. Higgins of Saginaw, Tex.; daughters, Theresa H. Beall of Raleigh and Cindy H. Ivey of Zebulon; sisters, Helen Eaton and Virginia McCabe; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Johnson Higgins.
