ZEBULON - Johnny Ebert Bailey Sr., 85, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at  his home. Entombment service was conducted Monday, Sept. 28, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon.

He was born in Johnston County to the late John Ashley Bailey and Siddie Lucille Wilson Bailey. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran, and was a truck driver with the NC Department of Corrections. He was a member of Hales Chapel Baptist Church.

Surviving: daughters, Janis B. (Michael) Merrill of Middlesex, Tammy L. (Gene) Tripp of Zebulon, and Patricia Gail Bailey of Zebulon; sons, Johnny E. Bailey Jr. of Wilson and James W. Bailey of Zebulon; brother, Russell Warren Bailey of Zebulon; sister, Jean B. Taylor of Knightdale; and one grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Strickland, and brothers, Willard and Bertice Bailey.
