ZEBULON - Eva Ellen Funkhouser Richards, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at Laurels of Forest Glen in Garner. Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 27, at Union Chapel Baptist Church, Zebulon. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Easter Star Rites.

She was born in Jerome, Shenandoah County, Va., the third child of John Isaac and Hannah Ann Funkhouser. She served in various capacities in her church and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Richards; brother, Solon Funkhouser; sisters, Nellie F. Stolliper and Ruby F. Flood; half brother, Melvin Funkhouser; half sister, Catherine Koch; and one grandson.

Surviving: son, Ronald L. Richards of Kernersville; daughter, Shirley R. Barham of Selma; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
