FRANKLINTON —Carolyn Dowdy Denson, 75, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Averett and the Rev. Don Ward officiating. Entombment followed in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Lynchburg, Va., the daughter of the late Arleen Bell Dowdy and William H. Dowdy. She was a retired financial analyst with IBM.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Dowdy of Lynchburg, Va.

Surviving: husband, Rawlings L. Denson Sr.; sons, R. L. Denson Jr. (Gwen), Barry Denson (Donna), all of Franklinton; sister, Betty Neff of Lynchburg, Va.; one granddaughter; seven step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
