FRANKLINTON —Sidney Eugene Burroughs,  55, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 5, at Cutchins Funeral Home in Franklinton, with Joseph B. Cutchins Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Manasseh Baptist Church cemetery in Franklinton.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., where he spent the majority of his years, he was the son of Pattie Burroughs and Beacher Burroughs. He attended high school in the Bronx. After attending Hunter College, he joined the administrative staff at The New York Hospital -Cornell Medical Center, where he served from 1979 to 1998, when declining health forced  him to retire.

He was preceded in death by his father, Beacher Burroughs; sister, Rochelle Burroughs; and his grandmother, Ito Fogg.

Surviving: his mother, Pattie Burroughs; four children, Troy, Danielle, Andre and Brandy; and a host of cousins, friends and colleagues.
