WINNIE C. SPENCER
OCTOBER 7, 1903 – JANUARY 6, 2010


LOUISBURG - Winnie Glyn Cheaves Spencer died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at her home. 

“By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.”  Miss Winnie was a resident of Franklin County for more than 106 years.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from Rock Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Melton Tyson, the Rev. Tom Brown and the Rev. Frank Eatmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. 

Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert H. Spencer, and a daughter, Mary Glyn S. Champion.  She is survived by two sisters, Mattie C. S. Carter of Roxboro and Pauline “Polly” Cheaves of Louisburg; a daughter, Evelyn S. Richards of Youngsville; a sister-in-law, Pauline Cheaves of Louisburg; six grandchildren, Karen R. Paschall of St. Petersburg, FL, William Robert Richards III of Youngsville, La Rue Richards of Youngsville, Michael S. Champion and wife, Karen of South Hill, VA, Timothy Champion and wife, Robin of Tega Cay, SC and Christopher L. Champion and wife, Sandy of Chesapeake, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Mary Richards-Beasley and husband, Daniel of Micro, William Robert “Bob” Richards IV of Youngsville, Jonathan S. Paschall of Tampa, FL, J. Kyle Champion of Chesapeake, VA, Garrett T. Champion of Chesapeake, VA, Zorah Champion of Al and Rhya Strifling and husband, Jack of Lexington, KY; one great-great grandchild, Parker Silas Strifling of Lexington, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg.
