WAKE FOREST - Rachel Howard Harris, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at her home. Funeral service was Friday, Jan. 22, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Wake Forest Cemetery.

She was born in Greene County, the daughter of the late James and Chloe Baker, and was retired from Schrader.

Surviving: husband, Carl S. Harris; daughter, Linda Edwards (Jerry) of Wake Forest; sons, Edward A. Howard Jr. of Smithfield, Wayne C. Howard and Ramona of Graham, Wash., Dallas A. Howard (Teresa) of Lawrenceville, Ga.; stepdaughter, Becky Francis (Roger) of Franklinton; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward A. Howard Sr., and by her son, Danny G. Howard.
