JOHNNIE W. BURNETTE


LOUISBURG - Johnnie White Burnette, 85, of Louisburg died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Louisburg Nursing Center.  He was born December 29, 1924 to William B. and Fannie Morton Burnette.  He retired from The Hon Company as supervisor of maintenance.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Beal Burnette, and sister, Pearl White.  Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jay Tilley officiating.

He is survived by his son, Johnnie E. Burnette and wife, Wanda of Louisburg, and daughter, Melissa B. Coffey and husband, Paul of Franklinton; sisters, Ruby B. Poole of Raleigh, Nellie Macrini and husband, Dominic of Clearwater, FL, Hazel Haynes of Louisburg, Shirley Denny of Trinity and Margie Finch of Louisburg; brothers, Eugene Burnette, William Burnette, Jr. and wife, Mary Ann, all of Louisburg, Calvin Burnette of High Point; grandchildren, Adriane Holloway and husband, Jason of Franklinton, Jonathan Burnette and wife, Amy of Spring Hope, Ashley, Lindsey and Haley Coffey, all of Franklinton; three great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Onnie Rose Cowell of Louisburg.

The family received friends Friday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg.  The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Burnette’s service to his country, where he served in the US Army from 1943 until 1946, serving in WWII, and he was honored with EAME Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal and A Purple Heart.
