LOUISBURG - Ruth Champion Dorsey, 86, died Saturday morning, May 1, 2010. Funeral service was conducted Monday, May 3, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Don McGinnis officiating. Burial followed at Lancaster Memorial Park.

She was the daughter of the late George and Blanche Gupton Champion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Dorsey, and her brother, George Champion Jr.

Surviving: daughters, Paulette Bailey (Jon) of Youngsville, Becky D. Thompson, and Lisa Tharrington (Bobby); brothers, Linwood Champion, William Champion (Anne), all of Louisburg; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of North Carolina, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, NC 27605.
