WILTON - William Thomas Gooch, 88, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Durham Regional Hospital. Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, May 15) at Banks United Methodist Church by the Rev. Cliff Wall. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late James and Bessie Kearney Gooch. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a retired farmer.

Surviving: his wife, Lena Wheeler Gooch of the home; daughter, Darnelle G. Averre (Bill) of Creedmoor; a son, the Rev. Ray T. Gooch of Pittsboro; and two grandchildren.

A brother, Emmitt Gooch, and a sister, Lell Silverthorne, preceded him in death.
