JAMES H. ANDERSON


RALEIGH - James Hallie Anderson, 94, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010. A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 23, at 2 p.m. at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh.

He was born in Pikeville to the late Nettie Jane and Lauther Haynes Anderson. He served in World War II with the 3rd Division, US Marines, in the Pacific Area, participating in action on the shores of Iwo Jima, Volcane Islands. He spent many years as a long distance driver for various companies.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theda W. Anderson; brothers, Russell R. and Ralph J. Anderson; sisters, Mildred Forehand, Lena Forehand and Callie Forbes.

Surviving: daughter, Carolyn Eddins (Johnny) of Max Meadows, Va.; son, James S. (Jimmy) Anderson (Pat) of Youngsville; brother, Elbert L. Anderson of Wilson, six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, from 4-6 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh.
