MATTIE B. HARRIS


FRANKLINTON— Mattie Mae Brodie Harris, 64, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 13, at Hawkins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Franklinton, with the Rev. W. S. Taylor officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

She was born in Granville County, the daughter of the late Beatrice Banks and Roy Lemuel Brodie. She was educated in the Granville County Public School System. She retired after 30 years of service as a lab technician at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

In addition to her husband, Stanley McCoy Harris Sr., She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Corine, Earline, Foster, Dorothy, Leroy, William, Clinton and Roy.

Surviving: daughters, Gwen Rogers (Dwayne) of Durham and Dorothy Brodie of Stem; sons, Gaddis Brodie (Cindy) of Franklinton and Stanley McCoy Harris Jr. (Tonya) of the home; brothers, Melvin Brodie (Estelle) of Creedmoor and Earl Brodie (Margaret) of Boston, Mass.; sisters, Marie Tharrington, Mary Harris (Lynwood) and Beatrice Green (John), all of Creedmoor; and five grandchildren.
