PETER STAPLETON “PETE” ALLEN
November 19, 1941 – September 18, 2010


EMERALD ISLE - Peter S. “Pete” Allen, 68, of Emerald Isle died September 18, 2010 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay, in Sea Level, NC.

Mr. Allen was raised in Louisburg, North Carolina and attended and graduated from Mills High School, the University of Miami, Florida, and served in the United States Army Medical Corps.

He owned and operated The Allen Agency, Inc., insurance agencies in Louisburg and Franklinton, Southeastern Motel Supply Company in Louisburg, Boone and Santee, South Carolina, Crystal Coast Convenience Stores in Emerald Isle and Cedar Point and served as County Administrator in Franklin County, Mayor, Administrator, Town Manager and Commissioner in Emerald Isle, County Manager and Commissioner for Carteret County and Town Manager for Atlantic Beach.

He loved life, pretty girls, the beach, loved to shag, pick, sing and listen to beach, bluegrass and Doo Wop music, loved to float the Tar River, fish from the dam and Herman’s Hole, relax at his cabin on Mitchiner’s Pond, fly airplanes, fix up and drive customized cars and serve the public.

He was a member of the Atlantic Beach Shag Club Music Hall of Fame, a member of Kappa Alpha Order (KA), received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the State of North Carolina and was chosen as a Paul Harris fellow with the Swansboro Rotary Club and Rotary International.

He is survived by his sister, Frances Neal Allen; two daughters, Dana Kristian Allen Garrett and Frances Boddie Allen Daughtridge; two grandsons and two granddaughters, all of Franklin County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Stapleton Allen and Annie Willis Boddie Allen, and a son, Derek Todd Allen.

There will be no services. Flowers and contributions are not requested but cards, notes and  e-mails of condolence will be accepted at 306 North Main Street, Louisburg, NC 27549 or by email at FDaught@yahoo.com.
