CLYDE S. (TOM) HAYES


SPRING HOPE - Clyde Stanton (Tom) Hayes, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 10) in the chapel of Spring Hope Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.L. Winstead officiating.

He was the son of the late Momado and Katie Coppedge Hayes and was born and raised on a farm in Franklin County with his five sisters: Rubilee Strickland, Mavis Pearce, Vernell Yeargin, Maxine Jones and Audrey Bock, who all preceded him in death.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a carpenter and farmer, and also operated a gas/grocery business outside of Spring Hope.

Surviving: wife, Christine; children, Clyde Duke Hayes of Raleigh, Helen Baines of Knightdale, Pam Pace and Roxie Hayes of Cary, Scott Hayes of Spring Hope; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
