APEX - Vance Wallace Johnson, 82, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at Wake Med Cary. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 12) at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex. Burial will follow in the Apex Cemetery.

He was born in Chatham County to Coy Livingston Johnson and Willie Council Johnson. He was a volunteer fireman with the Town of Apex and was a member of Apex Baptist Church.

Surviving: wife, Elaine L. Johnson; children, Susan J. Dixon of Apex and Brenda J. Stone (Harvey) of Youngsville; brother, John Dorsey Johnson of Apex; sister, Mary Frances Womble of Kernersville; nieces and nephews.
