BENNY L. PERRY


ZEBULON - Benny L. Perry, 86, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011. Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 23, at Zebulon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jack Glasgow Jr. presiding. Burial followed at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

He was the son of the late Mary Lucille Pierce and Clifton Laster Perry and was raised in Franklin County.

After attending Pearces Elementary and Bunn High Schools, he attended Wake Forest College, but was drafted into the U.S. Army before graduation. He was engaged in combat in three major battles in the European Theater of Operations, including the Battle of the Bulge, earning three Bronze Stars.

Surviving: wife, Hilda Lewis Perry; daughter, Anelia (Nena) Perry Brady (Steven) of Asheville; son, Frankie (Frank) Laster Perry (Kimberly), now living at Perry’s Pond; sister, Mary Lucille P. Richards (E.G.) of the Pearces Community; four granddaughters and three grandsons; and three great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.

The family would request that expressions of sympathy be made in honor of Zebulon and Pearce Baptist Churches both—along with life at Perry’s Pond—places of his fondest memories.
